The Avalon Village is a sustainable eco-village being built in Highland Park that is transforming one of the city’s most blighted blocks into a safe, functional and beautiful space for the entire community.

The village owns 20 parcels of land and 4 houses that are being brought back to life as the Homework House (an after-school learning and activity center), the Goddess Marketplace (an economic development initiative for women entrepreneurs,) and the Healing House (a center for holistic healing). Avalon Village also partners with Soulardarity (one of the 2018 grant finalists) to provide community-owned solar streetlights in Highlight Park.

Many thanks to all who contributed items. There is still much to be done to make Mama Shu’s dream a reality. Click on the link below for instructions on how to purchase items on their Avalon Villiage Wish List on Amazon.
